Vacuum forming (or vac forming as it is commonly known) is one of the oldest and best established methods of processing plastic materials. Despite advances in technology vacuum forming remains one of the best methods of producing simple formed plastic parts. The relatively low cost of the vacuum form tooling combined with the speed of production means that parts can be produced quickly and economically.
Vacuum forming produces consistently high quality parts and components that are used in many industries ranging from film and theatre props to automotive and aerospace. Probably the widest use however is in retail display and point of sale where vac formed merchandising trays enable products to be displayed in their best possible light.
To obtain the best results from the vacuum forming process it not only requires equipment but also skill and experience. This starts right at the beginning with the design of the vacuum form tooling which needs to be made with due consideration of the materials to be formed, the volumes required and the design criteria of the finished product. We have 20 years of experience of producing our own vac form tooling which not only keeps the costs down it also enables us to make adjustments and amendments rapidly without affecting the production lead times.
Here at Advance Display Solutions we have invested heavily not only in the vacuum forming equipment itself but also in a direct to substrate digital printer which uses specially formulated flexible inks that enable us to vacuum form printed panels to create stunning 3D items.
We have produced items for such household names as Boots, Brita Water, Kraken Rum, Mobil Oil and many others. Some examples of the items we have vacuum formed are below.
